In October, the YWCA of Kaua`i joins with our sister associations across the nation for A Week Without Violence, October 17th – October 23rd. Please join us in remembering and honoring the victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
From September 28th to October 25th, the YWCA of Kaua’i will be participating in the 2016 Allstate Purple Purse Challenge. It provides an opportunity for organizations that support domestic violence survivors to increase their donor base and push for vital funds. 100% of proceeds go toward providing life-changing financial empowerment services to help domestic violence survivors build safer lives for themselves and their families. During October, we will be fundraising online for our DV programs as well as increase awareness about financial abuse. Bonus Challenges are sponsored each week and supplements funds raised online with prizes ranging from $500 to $100,000. The YWCA of Kaua’i is the only YWCA in the State of Hawaii to be asked to compete in the Challenge, and we are hoping to make this our most successful Purple Purse campaign yet. We invite you to please help us make a difference in the community.
In preparation for our Week Without Violence, we celebrated National Coming Out Day (October 11th), at Kauai Community College.
