YWCA University is financial empowerment program made possible through The Allstate Foundation and led my Marjorie Bennett and other local guest speakers designed to provide a comprehensive curriculum that provided participants with the knowledge they need to achieve economic security.

The Moving Ahead Through Financial Management curriculum was developed to help provide survivors of domestic violence with:

  • Resources to strengthen survivors confidence in their ability to take action
  • Strategies to address the financial and safety challenges when ending an abusive relationship
  • Resources for working through the quality -of-life changes survivors may meet when fleeting abuse
  • Approches to work through challenges after an abuser has missed the survivors personal information
  • Methods to understand financial fundamentals
  • Steps to building a strong financial base, such as budgeting, saving, building credit, and managing debt.

We will be having our 3rd session, which will be delivered over two Saturdays, February 10th and February 24th. The sessions will be held at the YWCA of Kauai Women’s Center and go from 9am – 3pm.
